High Gas Prices

Do you know that the US government gets more of the money from gasoline sales than any of the oil companies? Let me walk you through this:

Exxon's profit margin is 11.23%, so at $3.50/gallon Exxon gets 39 cents, this is after the US government taxed their profits; $29 billion from Exxon alone, 41% of their profits. The US government earned 27 cents per gallon off Exxon

Then there is the federal tax of 18.4 cents per gallon. State taxes average 28.6 cents per gallon, so in direct taxes on your gas, 47 cents goes to the government.

Add in the taxes on oil companies and 74 cents goes to the US government versus 39 cents to Exxon, almost double. So who should the "windfall" profit tax be on? The entity that produces and delivers the gas or the one that does nothing at all? Who is really "gouging" you at the pump? This is after the US and State governments have taxed your income, made you pay for a drivers licenses and tabs for your car, among many other things.

****Please note the numbers on Exxon assume that all they do is sell gasoline. I still believe the argument is valid.

gas prices suck

Hey i gree the price of gas must go back down . its way to high !!!!! Where i live we are the highest for price in all of the region and it just went up again....so will be about 70 dollars a week for me now ...thats 280 a month and that just 1 car . I dont think well ever see 40 cents a liter again ... those where the days when it was affordable. that is why im working on switching my car over to use water for fuel instead of gas.

Recently on the local news they showed this water for gas broadcast. i thought it was pretty amazing. so i decided to look around the net and see what i could find.

I was amazed at what i found. Water is not only a great source of life for us but it is a great energy source as well. after all we already use it for electricity. why not make convert it to a gas as well.

People have this working it is PROVEN to work. If enough people MAKE the Switch. It will hurt BIG OIL .

jUST CHECK IT OUT FOR YOUR SELF DOES IT HURT TO LOOK!!!!

Oh I agree that that price of gas needs to go back down - I've heard about people doing the water for gas thing - anyone actually tried it?

Went out to Thomasville last night to visit friends, and on the way back saw where deisel was actually cheaper than reg. unleaded!! Now if that isn't price gouging I don't know what is!!
