Just moved my $ from eTrade Savings account. eTrade msg said $ will xfr only
tomorrow @6PM. Am I safe ? Perhaps eTrade will bounce back like Countrywide did but who knows... even if eTrade is FDIC insured, I can't imagine the government just writing me a check for what I had in my savings account if the company folds.

The money is FDIC insured so you would not have to worry about it. The FDIC would most likely put the money in your account the same day that a bank declares bankruptcy. However, there is a time period for the money to be available for everyone so you should be out way before that happens.

If E Trade is insured by FDIC, then you are protected up to $100,000. Any amount after that will be lost. If E Trade does go under then it will take awhile but you will get your money back. So don't worry about it.
