Career switch to Finance by doing an MBA followed by or combined with a CFA?
Hi all, I am 28, Asian, I am a Mechanical Engineer with a degree (average grade), currently working for a Steel Manufacturer (Maintenance Dept) here in Ontario, Canada. It's not that I hate my job, it's quite stable, but there is not much money in it. Would an MBA (Major or even Master in Finance), combined with a CFA help? I mean, is it worth even pursuing an MBA, then get into the Finance field, and well, go from there? I have some interest in Finance, but have no experience/background. I buy/sell stocks but only for extra money and my interest/hobby. Should I do Cert. courses in Finance/investment to get a feel for it? Would MBA/CFA prosper a lucrative career? Am I too old for a career switch? Please advise. Thanks a million.
