What qualifications do I need to help people with their personal finances?
I believe I would need to be series 65 qualified to "advise" people on what stocks to invest in. I'd like to learn more about what will be expected of me. I am also interested in providing personal accounting services to individuals.
I'm a full-time undergrad in accounting. I'll be taking the CPA most likely right after getting my BS/accounting (uh huh, without a MS/accounting). My master's degrees will complement my undergrad.
I would like to know if I am required by law or by any nongovernmental regulating authority to have a series X certification, some acronym-type certification, or anything else that will lend additional credibility to my name.
I honestly didn't forsee anyone assuming that I would be some unqualified jerk with a business idea--or that anyone would think they'd have to suggest college. I'm doing quite well in college.
