Ok, breathe. It's 100% ok to wear flip-flops outside. Why would they be laughing at you? I don't reccomend wearing them 24/7 though, because that's also bad for your feet (flip flops don't have arch support)
But as long as you own other shoes it's ok.

On the contrary, where I live, it's considered abnormal to NOT own a pair of flip-flops.

If they laugh at you it's probably because the have 8 toes on each foot or something and they're jealous.
